Core Competencies

A geospatial science professional is expected to have mastered certain core competencies that define the profession, which is founded in geography but draws upon a range of other disciplines to answer scientific questions that are spatial in nature. This involves acquiring, storing, processing and analyzing geospatial data to produce a visual output, often a map. The culmination of this work is its application, and this often occurs in the form of web-based, functioning applications that can be tailored to fit a wide range of industries. After all, ‘everything is spatial and location matters.’
